Your privacy, in plain language

Who we are

Family Decisions (familydecisions.com.au) is run by Barry Morris. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles, and we have designed the site with the Children's Online Privacy Code in mind.

What we collect

• Your email address, only if you enter it, along with which tool you used and which emails you've opened.
• Your plan or results, only if you choose to email them to yourself. A plan includes each child's age band, daily limits and sleep range, plus your family's values and agreements. Phone check results include the result and suggested next steps. We never receive children's names.
• Purchase details, if you buy something. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
• Basic site statistics, such as which pages are visited and how many people finish a tool. These don't identify you.
• Anonymous totals, only if you tick the box to contribute to our Family Screen Time Snapshot: each child's age band and planned hours, the values chosen, and whether there are two homes or a school device. No names, emails or anything that identifies a child.

What we don't collect

The planner and calculators run in your browser. Children's names are never sent to us or anyone else. Anything you don't choose to email yourself disappears when you close the page.

Children

This site is written for parents and carers. Some tools may be used by children alongside a parent. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we'll delete them.

How we use your information

• To send you the plan or product you asked for.
• To send emails you signed up for. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
• To improve the tools, using statistics that don't identify you.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of services to run the site: GoHighLevel to host the site and send emails, and Stripe to take payments. These providers may store data outside Australia, including in the United States. We never sell or rent your information.

Cookies and affiliate links

The site uses a few cookies to work properly and to count visits. Some pages link to products, such as parental control apps, through affiliate programs. If you click one, that company may set a cookie so we can earn a commission. Every affiliate link is labelled.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any email.
• Ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you.
• Contact us at [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.

Keeping it safe

We keep what we hold to a minimum and use reputable providers with security safeguards. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Complaints

Please contact us first. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
